The Progressive Adaptation Cycle

The Healthy Life System is a deep, personal process of self-assessment, acceptance, and gradual adaptation driven by The Progressive Adaptation Cycle.

The Progressive Adaptation Cycle gives you a framework for honoring the internal changes (assessment, acceptance, alignment) that lead to impactful external change (adaptation & evolution).

The purpose of The Healthy Life System is to provide you with insights and strategies that will support you to feel certain in your ability to create change in your life and adapt to a changing world in ways that support good health.

With a combined 40 years of personal health journeying and 25 years of health-coaching experience, we are well equipped to guide you through any challenge you may face on your journey of bringing your important message out into the world.

Healthy living can feel like a lonely road.  Often, it can feel like nobody else cares and it’s difficult to begin to act differently around family and friends.  They may question what you are doing, and not always in a friendly way.  Some may even label you as ‘crazy’ or ‘extreme’ and tell you that you are wrong for doing something that you know is going to make a huge positive impact on your health and your life.

I went through years of this struggle.  I started my journey at 26 years old.  I was 335 pounds and just felt like I was getting sicker by the day.  I had no energy, no mental clarity, and everything just felt difficult.  Once I realized I could change I made the choice to start approaching my life differently.  Through a deep, personal process of self-assessment, acceptance, and gradual adaptation, I began to understand my body and its unique needs. I learned to listen to myself and respond in ways that fostered healing, balance, and well-being. This journey not only transformed my health but also instilled a sense of empowerment and clarity in my life.

It was that process of self-discovery and personal alignment that got me through when my life took unexpected twists and turns and when I didn’t feel like I had alot of great support.  I had the internal clarity I needed to make decisions that were right for my health vision in every circumstance and the confidence to maintain my commitment to healthy living practices, regardless of skepticism from family and friends. Inspired by my own recovery, I have spent the last 15 years coaching others, guiding them through the same reflective process that helped me. Seeing others regain their health, adaptability, and vitality reaffirmed the power of this method.

The Healthy Life System was created to help you develop the clarity, confidence, and conviction that you need to keep moving through these challenges with compassion for yourself and grace for others.  You will learn to move confidently through your own insecurities and develop an understanding that what your skeptics are really struggling with is their own insecurities about their health and uncertainty about how to make things better for themselves. You will also learn how to become a mentor to them as they become interested in discovering what healthy living could look like for them.

Your Resource Manager

I was always a sick child. I had stomach problems, rashes, joint pain, headaches, fatigue, and brain fog among other symptoms, and no doctor could tell me what was making me sick. When I was 18 I read my first book about nutrition and I was introduced to what I know now is an elimination diet. I followed it for a month and for the first time I was not sick to my stomach and my skin rashes cleared out. So, I started experimenting and identified which foods made me feel well and which made my body feel sick and ended up on a Whole Food Plant Based diet, which I have followed since then.

Even though I always felt ill, growing up I enjoyed being active, however, I was very injury prone, twisting and spraining my ankles, throwing my low back out, spraining my wrists and fingers playing volleyball. I tore the meniscus in my left knee during a basketball game my senior year and had my first surgery at 17. After that injury I learned about weight training, calisthenics and how to strengthen my body so it feels like it's put together. I also learned that my joint pain got better if I move, so I stayed active, eventually becoming a Personal Trainer so I learned more about anatomy and the correct way to exercise, hoping this knowledge would help me have less injuries.

All those things helped, but I still struggle everyday. I knew there was something wrong with me, but I didn't know what it was. Throughout the years I would have flairs of intense abdominal pain that would make me go to the ER but no testing ever found what was causing the pain, and I kept being referred to GI, who would not find anything either. I would do a juice cleanse for a couple of weeks, or fast for a few days and my pain would get better. So, I managed my chronic progressive illness on my own the best way I could.

Through my own research I finally figured out, and then had medically confirmed and diagnosed, that I have Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS) a connective tissue disorder that makes all connective tissues in my body too loose, causing all the symptoms I've been experiencing my whole life. I finally have an explanation and validation for all my weird traits.

This has been a lonely road. Not being able to eat like most people, dealing with constant pain and fatigue is really stressful and can wear you out. I have spend the majority of my life figuring out ways to live with this condition and still enjoy my life, and I want to share everything I have learned with you, and provide you with the resources I have found along the way so you don't have to do it on your own. Whether you are managing a chronic illness or condition, or just want to be healthier so you have more energy and less stress, The Healthy Life System can help you reach your health goals.

I'm excited to be part of this community of like minded people who want to normalize health in their lives and commit to a process of discovery and growth.

What is The Healthy Life System and how is it different from regular health coaching?

Great question! The Healthy Life System shows you a thoughtful approach to living that breaks through your fear and resistance toward change and makes room for small progressive adaptations that move you toward your true vision of health and wellbeing. Our unique approach to health coaching goes beyond standard coaching programs by offering greater flexibility and autonomy, promoting a "Do it with you" model that invigorates personal empowerment.

But I'm getting older and my life is so busy. Can I really get healthier?

The answer is simply... Absolutely!! Kevin used the strategies that are within the Healthy Life System throughout his health recovery journey. He was able to go from  335 lbs and totally sick to 175 lbs  and in the best total health of his life all through some pretty challenging life circumstances, including: 

  • Divorce

  • Single parenting

  • Temporarily living on welfare

  • Getting remarried - Mixed family dynamics

  • Finishing his Bachelors and Masters degrees

  • Challenging teenagers

  • Starting and growing a thriving business

  • Loss of family members due to poor health

  • And currently being caretaker of a spouse with a chronic condition

How long does it take to see results with The Healthy Life System?

The timeline for seeing results can vary depending on individual factors, including your specific health goals, commitment to the program, and the nature of your health concerns. That's why we prioritize process over perfection and growth over results. We believe whole heartedly in your power to start making health-oriented improvements to your life, and we are here to walk alongside you as you craft personal daily strategies that resonate with your values and preferences and lead you to your true vision for health and well-being. Our courses will  help you make well informed health-oriented decisions, fostering long-term autonomy over your health.

I am experiencing chronic pain and/or symptoms but don't have a diagnosis. Can you help me?

First, we want to say how sorry we are that you are experiencing this. We know, personally, what a challenging and frustrating journey it can be. To be clear. We are not medical providers, so we cannot diagnose your symptoms. Our commitment to you is to walk along side you and help you discover ways to protect the health that you have and create a symptom management plan that makes your life feel more livable as you continue to search for answers from the medical system. Our motto at every stage is "Commit to the journey, stick to the plan, and find joy wherever you can." We and your community of chronic condition warriors will support you to do that.
